After the Pahlagam terrorist attack, the central government on Thursday directed all OTT (over-the-top) and streaming platforms to remove the contents related to Pakistan.
Pakistani content has been banned by quoting the cause of national protection in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. This step is taken under the IT Act 2021.
OTT platforms have to remove all sorts of Pakistani content
- After the order, all web series and films made in Pakistan will be removed in subscription-based or free.
- Artists like Pakistani songs, albums and Atif Aslam, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who are present on the streaming platform will also be removed.
- Any voice-based content available on the Pakistani Origin Podcast, Audio Show or Indian platforms. They will also be removed
- Pakistani channel TV shows, documents, programs have also been banned that are flowing to the OTT.

Earlier on April 2 April, the Government of India has banned the 16 Pakistani YouTube channel on April 2. According to official sources, these channels have been accused of spreading inflammatory, communal and misleading news against India, Indian army and security agencies.
Pakistani actors were also banned
Fuis (Employee of the Film Federation of Western Cinema) recently wrote to the Ministry of Information and Broadcast that if an Indian would work with Pakistani artists, it would be a sedition. Also, people working with Pakistani artists will be banned from Indian industry.
Obviously, the picture of Fawad Khan Abir Gulal will no longer be released in India in the debate. Hania Amir is also being replaced by Sardar 3 films.
The URI was started after the attack
After the URI attack in 2016, all Pakistani artists were banned from working in India. This is why artists like Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan had to leave many films in India. In 2021, the Bombay High Court dismissed the Pakistani artist’s sanctions and said that artists could not be punished due to political tensions.
This is why Pakistani artists were again given work in Hindi cinema. Hania Amir Diljit Dosanz worked on Sardar 3 films, while Fawad Khan Abir Gulal was about to return to Bollywood with the film.
